yellow water and funny smell reason - decaying plants and organic build up. high nitrates. not cycled. could also be leeching from soil solution - do frequent water change (2-3 days) and use filter. promote water circulation with pump/ airstream 5.2 - tank setup/ substrate vacuum
dying plants/ lethargic animals after water change reason - chlorine poisoning. shock solution - water conditioner/ leave out water for 12-24 hrs till cl2 evaporate and temp same/ add tannins
algae reason - excess of nutrients in water solution - promote root growth in plants to soak up nutrients/ lights out/ cleaning
